That's right, folks! As of Saturday, June 25, I will officially be an island girl!! I'm moving to Victoria to join my hubby there, and I am truly excited to start this new journey of living on the island :)
First though, there are steps one must take in order to get oneself to the island....they involve:
1) Quitting my job on the mainland. This Friday will be my last day, and while I am happy to leave a job that is not in any way self-gratifying, I am very sad to leave behind a great group of people I've come to know over the past two and a half years. Over 100 employees work at the store, and I'm happy to say that I can point out each one, give you their names, (and even SPELL the names, but that comes with the scheduling job lol) and even give you a little background info about each person. I will miss the Pricesmart family very much, but....not enough to just go on "leave" from my job, no no, I quit! lol
2) The next step is finding just the right apartment to live in for the next year or so. There is no better team than the one who has a researcher on one end, and a hoofer on the other. Kudos to Jer for checking out numerous apartments until he found the one he couldn't live without...and I haven't even SEEN it yet!! And to those who are wondering...yes, we can FINALLY BBQ!!
3) Packing. I hate it. There just is no other way for me to emotionally describe this process. And even more depressing, is knowing you've packed everything up, only to unpack at the other end. Thank god for U-Haul and bubble wrap!
4) Moving. Almost as bad as packing. Luckily, I have the world's greatest parents who've moved me a couple of times before, and know what it is they're getting themselves into. All of our stuff has to fit like a glove inside a 17' U-Haul, and who better to make that happen than the puzzle master himself? Thanks Dad ( and Mom, of course!)
5) More packing. I know, I know, I already listed this, but it's just such a massive project, and yes, I really do hate it that much!
Ok, so if I've failed to mention a step, then, oh well - it's not a permanent move, just a long, temporary one. And I'm really excited to be moving to Victoria in the summertime, I think I'll forget about the fact that I need a job and just go exploring every day :)
Stay tuned for more island adventures, I'm hoping to stay on the blogging train this time, but I make no promises!
Adios, Vancouver!!
